The Bridge Inn Lake is a stunning venue situated
just west of Norwich on the Fakenham road. There are
three pits at the venue, two smaller float type
pits, and the main lake, bordering the venue is a
lovely stretch of the river Wensum, famed for its
specimen Barbel angling.
One of the Bridge Inn main lakes lovely mirror carp
At around 5 acres, this tree lined ex gravel pit has
just about everything an angler could ask for in a
venue. The main lake is stocked with a good
selection of Mirror and Common carp reaching weights
over 30lb.
There is every feature imaginable in the lake,
gravel bars, silty patches, overhanging trees,
bushes and numerous blossoming lily pads, meaning no
swim is devoid of options. the lake is split into
two seperate areas, with the back part of the lake
being slightly smaller than the front.
The back area contains some very obvious gravel
bars, with silty channels in between them. Depths at
the top of these bars can be up to just over a foot
at certain times of the year. The margins are tree
and bush lined, and many of the carp caught come
from under the marginal cover.
The front area of the lake also contains some easily
located gravel spots, and many lilly pads which are
a haven for the resident carp. there are also many
marginal features that hold carp and will produce
the goods. The car park bay offers a great number of
features to fish to, and always seems to hold carp.
The pub itself offers great food in a relaxed
atmosphere, and a Sunday lunch on one of the picnic
tables in the large beer garden that leads down to
the lake is highly recommended.
There are members on the Forum
who can give you a lot more details on the lake and how it is
currently fishing at present.
