Kingfisher Lake is situated just off the A11 at
Thetford, access is from the Northbound carriageway
of the A11, just after the bridge spanning the
Little Ouse.
The lake is a mature gravel pit, around four
acres in size, with the majority of the swims on the
bank adjacent to the river (bottom of the picture
above). There are a number of double swims on the
far bank, which we will be using also for the event.
The new owner, has given the banks some serious
attention, adding some very comfortable wood-chipped
swims.
"Bumpy" with a mirror carp from Kingfisher
This year so far there has been over 40 twenties
out of the lake, so it's hoped there will be plenty
of action all round! The largest fish to come out so
far this year is a 27lb common.
The lake is currently fishing very well, with
fish coming out from all areas of the lake.
There is also the chance of a 30lb common still
residing in the lake (the lake was netted by Bury AA
when they gave up the lease, it's unsure what they
took out).
Kingfisher Lake was the venue for the Carp
Connection Cup 2006, and even though there was heavy
pressure on the lake, there were over 20 carp
landed.
