Venue File - Suffolk Water Park, Bramford, Suffolk

Suffolk Water Park, just outside Ipswich, Suffolk

The emphasis at Suffolk Water Park is on comfort, security and great sport. The 25 acre Big Fish Water holds some fantastic looking fish including the catchable "Grey Tail" who I believe has gone to over 40lb's.

The lake is a horseshoe shape with two main bay areas, the first comprises "the cafe bank" and "shallows"  (top of picture, left) and is on average around 5-6ft deep. this side has gravel spots and in the summer can get very weedy.

The back area (bottom of picture, left) is generally deeper, and is known to hold fish in Autumn and Winter, with the snag areas producing well.

The carp do shoal up and getting on the end of a new wind can be the difference between a blank and an awesome session.

Fishing big PVA bags of pellets scores well, as Slug found out (see pic below), and a lot of the fish are stunning.

There's everything you need at this place including; toilets, showers and a great cafe which delivers food directly to your swim if required. A nice touch.

Trevor the bailiff is more than helpful, he in fact goes out of his way to put you on the fish.

Upon choosing your swim and paying for a permit (Trevor taps on an extra hour to allow you to set up, nice), if fishing on the spit, Trevor will take you and all your gear round to your swim in his four wheel drive "Gator", class. If you fancy a move, give him a buzz and he'll pick you up again!

This comfort comes at a price though, the Water Park can get very busy at times.

There are members on the Forum who can give you a lot more details on the lake and how it is currently fishing at present.

If you've fished the lake please feel free to send us your catch photo's for inclusion on the site.
