Taverham Mills has to be one of the regions best
looking fisheries available on a Day Ticket basis,
with an abundance of nooks, crannies, bays and bolt
holes it really is a stalking anglers dream.
A satellite image of Taverham Mills Lake
The lake has recently
given up it's first 30lb residents, which is amazing
really, as the place just screams big carp!
The
lake record currently stands at 31lb 5oz, with over
80 fish backing that up in the 20lb+ bracket (many
of which are upper 20's).
When it comes to features throughout the lake
where do we start?
The obvious place is the pads,
there are so many thickset pads that they can
even be seen in the satellite image on the left.
The pads do hold a lot of fish, but between the pads
there is lovely gravely spots, which scream out on
the marker float for a bait to be presented on them.
There is also some silty patches which are known to
produce, and the margins are ripe with overhanging
trees, bushes and shrubbery.
Moonscale at 34lb
There are islands
with sumptuous sandy clear patches off them, where
the thinking angler can use a baiting spoon to it's
full advantage.
Taverham Mills is well worth a
long session, as it matures with the angler as the
session develops.
The walk to the lake might seem like a back
breaker, but once you are at the lake it's all
worthwhile, as the lake is one of the most beautiful
you will ever have the pleasure of fishing.
There are members on the
Forum
who can give you a lot more details on the lake and how it is
currently fishing at present.
